Artist: Charles Rowe

Charles Rowe Bio.

Artist Charles Rowe shows the inspiration of his native Montana in this exceptional piece, Royalist of Stags. Artist Charles Rowe is now offering several exceptional, limited edition, signed and numbered prints in our store and a portion of the profits will be sent to our conservation partners.

It's easy for me to recommend a fly rod for a particular purpose or individual, I can even recommend a flishing guide knowing that your personalities will mesh perfectly, but collectable art is a bit harder. Within the world of fly fishing you are going to encounter many types of art from painting and sculture to fly collections an one-of-a-kind rods. And just like fishing holes, some will appeal to you and some won't.

Why would I single out these prints by Charles Rowe? Simple, the quality is incredible. I loved it so much that I now have Blue Geese proundly on display in my own living room. Art cataloges, internet sites, magazines and local galleries are bulging at the seams with nice collectable art; but only a few selections really stand out. Charles Rowe has used the Giclée(w) (zhee-klay) printing process which reproduces his colors with amazing accuracy. Giclée connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. The print making image is generated from a high resolution digital scan and printed with archival quality inks which can last from 25 to 200 years. The quality of the Giclée print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries. Numerous examples of Giclée prints can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries.

From Charles Rowe:
"Since they are difficult to photograph, I visited the Delaware Natural History Museum to study and photograph the mounted Blue Geese. Also friends and fellow artists had mounts that I was able to have in my studio to study the details of the birds. This research was combined with other photographs I had taken of pond edges and of the way a goose moves through the water. All of these elements combined to produce an intimate scene of the two geese.”

Artist Charles Rowe is a professor emeritus of art at the University of Delaware . Mr. Rowe graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and received his MFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia .

Charles Rowe has had numerous one man shows, is in collections nationally as well as in Canada and Europe and has been in more than two hundred exhibitions. These include the Smithsonian Museum, Los Angeles County Museum, C.M. Russell Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, Dallas Museum of Art, World Trade Center, American Painters in Paris, and Artes en el Espacio(Spain). Charles Rowe's work has been commissioned by NASA, the USAF, and the states of Montana and Delaware. Charles Rowe is a member of the Society of Illustrators in New York.

Though primarily a surrealist painter of metaphysical work, Charles Rowe draws from his early years in his native Montana in a family of outdoorsmen, fly fishing on the Missouri, the Madison and the Gallatin rivers. This love of nature and wildlife continues to surface in his paintings.
