Only 88 days left in the year!
Mother Little Helper closed today, up +43.85% year to date. The current return has surpassed my initial projection of 42% by year end. The important thing to keep in mind is that we are in a position where we can lose 50% of our gains and still be making a significant profit and still be beating the current S&P 500 return by a wide margin. I feel like we have achieved our goal of showing that a Do-It-Yourself approach to investing can be successful, but I'll keep following this to the end of the year.
Our leading companies remain pretty much the same with Dynavax Technologies up over 424%, Copart Inc. up over 146%, National Beverage up over 141%, Omeros up almost 102% and many more doing exceptionally well.
I've been asked a couple of times to explain how I decided to include the stocks that are in the portfolio so I'm going to try and do that in a future post. There is a structure to it that creates diversification while setting the portfolio up for growth too. The diversification has limited the draw down on down market days, keeping the volatility (Ups & Downs) to a minimum. While the healthcare stocks have performed really well, we have seen significant gains from a broad number of industries.
